As you may know, while operating Sunflower Wireless, I also have worked full time for Valnet in the same business. In 2006 when I started Sunflower Wireless there were no reliable service options in the area, and Valnet wasn’t close enough to expand the network into Petrolia. My goal was simple: Provide reliable and reasonably priced Internet access service to the town.

Today I am pleased to tell you that the Valnet network has expanded to a point close enough that it now makes sense to merge these networks to better serve and support you. My position at Valnet will allow me to continue to manage and maintain the system in Petrolia, in an even better capacity as I will be able to add this network into my full time attention.

I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to have helped to serve the Internet access needs of the community. Having spent several years living in Petrolia, I understand the needs of residents of a small outlying community and have striven to serve them. This merger will further my goals to serve your needs, as it will enhance the level of support available to you. As a much larger company, Valnet is able to offer a much more comprehensive support structure including:

  • 24/7/365 Toll Free Support - 888-332-1616
  • Service call and Installation dispatching availability 5 days a week (Monday – Friday)
  • Optional paper statement billing (statement fee applies)
  • Secure online account access at https://myaccount.valnet.net/
  • Secure online payment options via electronic check or credit card through online account access at https://myaccount.valnet.net/
  • Automatic payment options via electronic check or credit card - call or set up at at https://myaccount.valnet.net/
  • Current subscription rates won't change.

For the first step of the transition I’ll transfer your billing information to Valnet on May 1, at which time they’ll start billing you on your next billing cycle. Any past due charges will be transferred to Valnet for collection, and any credit balances will transfer as account credit. On and after May 1, all payments need to be made to Valnet. Note that Valnet charges tax on equipment rental fees, so if you're paying for service plus equipment lease your bill will include these taxes.

During the month of May, several projects to enhance the network will also be performed.

Moving forward, please feel free to contact Valnet at 888-332-1616 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
